So interesting to learn these tidbits about Euskara, which fascinated me when I visited the French Pays Basques as a teenager. I believe it is the only surviving pre Indo-European language.
I enjoyed this glimpse of Serra's work and also your insightful quip on the Jasper Johns painting - "With each layer 25% smaller than the one below, the painting becomes a commentary on diminishing expectations."
That’s a prescient and powerful Jasper Johns, and I love the story about Denise Scott Brown at the faculty meeting. Must say I didn’t love the Guggenheim Bilbao. Interesting is the word.
