Victoria, I was delighted to meet you at the AGO and to read this essay linking the women artists you discovered on your journey. Firelei Baez is a familiar name. I love the piece you selected and think I’ve seen another somewhere.
Wonderful! I loved your refections on the artists, the move from your fall to the Falls, and it's beguiling to think of you and Rona together gazing skeptically at the Henry Moores...
Beguiling! Thanks for that word. I spent two days writing that piece and I still have more thoughts, with no way to easily add to it. (I should have tied in the lint somehow! Textiles…?)
Lovely to see all of these works and through your eyes and join you physically on this road trip. I hope the knee is better and the scarf has finished shedding. I saw Marisol in Montreal last year and I was blown away. Also enthralled with the images of her working. There’s nothing like pictures of women artists creating. .. especially from eras that didn’t readily give us images of women taking themselves and their work seriously, I think. The inclusion of the poem is a wonderful surprise too as we tumble along with you
Lovely post, Victoria, and great you met up with Rona who sounds like a wonderful guide. I hope your knee is better now! The phrase 'a roped calf' is wonderful.

So many of these artists were new to me. Kind of shocking. Thanks for being my inspiration!
My pleasure.

Thank you. I love “tumble”! I should have used it myself. 😁

My knee is fine, thanks. It was my dignity that hurt. The trip was worth it though!
Glad to hear it. Sounds like a wonderful, memorable trip.
I enjoyed reading this thanks to your note. The flowering portrait is striking to me.
Thanks— I wish I had taken a better photo. It was really striking.
