This piece is a nice way of connecting the previous postcard post to your writing about your dad. I enjoy all of your posts, even if they are not directly related to the original intent of this newsletter. Have a great trip to BA.
It's interesting - I, too, have boxes of postcards from art museums that I used to visit. These days, I tend to just take a photo of the artworks that I want to remember. And eventually those photos will be deleted...or lost to updated technology. Just another way memories will disappear in the digital age!
I like the 'straying' -- through it, you take us to really interesting places. The gathering & sorting of your father's postcards are an engaging way of lining up clues, suggesting connection, clarifying and detailing your ongoing portrait of him. Keep it up!
That Bellini! Total flashback from my first ever art history class. Very cool and evocative post.
Thank you, Susie! Why are some images more memorable than others??? Internal/external factors??

Thank you!
Any friend of Durer is a friend of mine. :)

I hadn’t thought about that, but you’re right. I don’t buy postcards at museums any more either— I should go back to it.

Thanks! And yes. I like the sorting and gathering for its own sake too—
Fascinating! And I'm sure I'd stand in awe of the Bellini too, if I had the chance.
I will have to go visit St Francis again— the Frick has been open, closed, and moved around so it’s been awhile.
I love this close reading. (Reminds me of that series of pieces you worked on X years ago.) I love the detail: only cards with pinholes.
Thanks! I’m not sure which series you mean but thanks, regardless. Yes, the pinholes are poignant for me.
